Ceit – MIRAGED: Strategic positioning in virtual models and digital twins for industry 4.0
Ceit
Sector: Manufacturing
Business Case
Digital twins to optimise the operation of industrial manufacturing processes
Objectives
Development of virtual twins of product-focused hot forming and heat treatment industrial processes incorporating real-time data models and advanced metallurgical models.
Use case
Prediction of necessary process parameters (in hot forming, conventional and induction heat treatment) to obtain predefined part properties. Prediction of part properties for defined process parameters. Prediction of mechanical properties from electromagnetic measurements.
Infrastructure
On premise
Technology
Automatic or Deep Learning
Data
Simulated data, historical NDT sensor data, laboratory test data.
Resources
Fourteen people participated in the project.
Difficulties and learning
The importance of approaching problems from a multidisciplinary point of view, bringing together domain knowledge (simulation models, mechanistic models) as well as more technical knowledge in empirical modelling and ML/IA algorithms.
KPIs (business impact and metrics of the model)
TRL 4-6
